Calumet Waterworks

Calumet Waterworks is a really nice place to have a picnic or large group party. There are all kinds of picnic tables and there’s lots of space for playing games or having fun. And, obviously, there is the beach, which is okay too. The beach is a mix of sand and rocks, with enough sand to spread out a blanket and enjoy the sun, and enough rocks to entertain the casual rock picker. There is an asphalt basketball court as well – for the street balling crowd.

The drive down to the water is really nice. Its always a great feeling to see the lake up ahead while still miles away from the beach. This beach is really close to Calumet, and not a far drive from the Houghton/Hancock area. Again, probably the best public beach for a large group party. There is a playground, concrete fire pits, lots of open space, but no camping. Nonetheless, beach is open until 1 am. A map of the area is here. A nice beach, with other amenities…

This is my fave UP beach. I want to get married there lol. What u have done in documenting all of the UP’s beaches is awesome. I, like u, tried to search for beaches a while ago but no luck and stuck with those I knew. Now I have a list of many to check out. Thank u!
i dont think many people call it by its name. yes, Bucky’s. you could probably ask around and do a paragraph at least of how it got its nick name. way befor my time so i dont know details.
