Somewhere…

Muskallonge State Park

Muskallonge State Park. AKA, Driftood Paradise.

Muskallonge State Park is actually on Muskallonge Lake, but also includes the shoreline across the road. The park is fairly nice, with lots of campsites and all the usual amenities of a state park. The lake didn’t seem all that great to me, but perhaps there’s some good fishing there? In any case, Lake Superior is right there! There’s a nice path leading to the beach which is strewn with driftwood. Driftwood can be a wonderful thing for kids. I can certainly remember scouring beaches for driftwood when I was young… and building forts or sand castles. Driftwood is also good for campfires and sometimes a unique piece makes a nice walking stick. Anyhow, this is a good beach. Good enough for a day trip if you don’t live too far away. And the park is obviously a great weekend camping destination.

Here’s the Google Map. And here’s the Shoreline Viewer.
