Rankings
Here are some rankings. Keep in mind, these are “overall, relative” rankings. These account for each beach’s ranking as a day-trip beach as well as a weekend/camping beach. So beaches that don’t offer camping are at a disadvantage. I explain this to justify these rankings, as some people will surely disagree otherwise. This is a draft list, and I may need to update it soon. Enjoy.
Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to make this into a website. We’ve visited most of the notable beaches and then some. There are still a few that we need to see (mainly in the Little Presque Isle area) and many that we will return to over and over again. I’d rank them a little differently, but it’s all based on experience!
Anyway, I enjoyed leafing through your ranking and based on that will probably change my summer camping plans (i.e. Muskellonge SP doesn’t look as inviting as I’d imagined it).
Here’s how I’d rank my top ten:
1. 12 mile beach (as entered through the Beaver Lake Campground)
2. Chapel beach
3. Au Train Beach
4. Miner’s beach
5. Hunter’s Point
6. Wetmore Landing (Marquette)
7. Presque Isle
8. Log Slide
9. Agate Beach
10. Hurricane River
11. Whitefish Point (this is at the top for our birding habit, of course)
My kids would include Little Girl’s Point because they love to hunt agates.
Thanks again for all your work here!
